Hi, I’m Matt,
Dee Dee:
And I’m Dee Dee. We are the hilarious outcome of opposing brains, sharing a mutual desire to share knowledge and positive thinking about him and cannabis.
WELCOME
Matt:
We are here to tear down the walls built by big pharma and other big companies that seek to keep the human race and fear and divided.
Dee Dee:
We are here to shatter the myths about hemp and cannabis and change the stigma of this amazing plant. Welcome to Hemp and Happiness with Hemp
Matt:
Queen and Emperor
Dee Dee:
Podcast. Join us as we venture into this misunderstood and the unknown <laugh>. Thanks Matt for that introduction.
Matt:
I’m just trying to get pumped.
Dee Dee:
<laugh>. Hey guys. It is Dee Dee and Matt here for Hemp and Happiness. Thank you for joining us. Again, I don’t even know what episode we’re up to, but this,
I LEARNED IT FROM WATCHING YOU!
Matt:
It’s awesome, dude. This is, uh, like 40.
Dee Dee:
That’s awesome. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>, it’s awesome. Thank you for all our listeners and uh, for all your feedback and support. We appreciate it very
Matt:
Much. If we make it through the, the winter, we’ll go full seat. We’ll have gone through the seasons. That’s true. So,
Dee Dee:
Yeah. Cuz we started in spring, didn’t we? Last year?
Matt:
Yeah. Yeah, we did in very beginning of spring. So now we’re, we
Dee Dee:
Got 12
Matt:
Episodes at the
Dee Dee:
12 episodes and it’s spring again. Oh my God. No. I can’t wait
Matt:
Till spring. So I hate those weather. Yes. All right. So, so we, as I think most of you listeners know, we live in Louisville, Kentucky, both ca uh, both deedee and I mm-hmm. <affirmative>, and, um, it is a great place to live. Three seasons out of the year.
Dee Dee:
Yeah.
Matt:
Just three. Um, and then winter rolls around and what’s referred to as the Ohio Valley. Yep. Which is this region. And you get a lovely mixture of shit and piss <laugh>. Yeah. And you can get shit. You can get piss or you can get a lovely mixture of shit and piss. Yeah. And that’s what you deal with throughout, uh, the winter. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. And it’s also when all the holidays are going on and you’re supposed to be hap hap happy and fucking bright and smiling. Right. And making sure, you know, everything’s so wonderful and you’re just not feeling it. So if you’re like me and, uh, you know that it sucks, you have no choice but to either move, which I don’t recommend, um, because I’ve tried to live in warm places and they’re as fucking crazy as it is here. Just <laugh>. You’re just, you’re just in a different situation of crazy. Yes. Um, agreed. You just gotta dig deep and, uh, and, and not let it get the best of you. Cuz, cuz this, this time of year will get the best of
Dee Dee:
You. It will. And that’s when I always recommend to make sure you’re taking your CBD products along with any other, you know, Delta 8, Delta 9 products as well. That CBD is going to help you a lot during this time.
Matt:
Well, and also, unless you’re, unless you’re sick and it’s ill advised, I highly recommend you spend as much time outdoors as possible. Agreed. Because this is the time of year where everyone shuts themselves in, um, to try to, you know, stay warm and get cozy, and that’s totally fine. Totally cool. But your body’s made to be outdoors. And, uh, if you can get yourself out in fresh air and get yourself out for exercise, it’s gonna help you maintain a good, healthy mental attitude. And, and, and as well as, as help you physically. So if you can get out 10 to 15 minutes a day mm-hmm. <affirmative>, um, I would highly recommend
Dee Dee:
It. Especially if the sun’s out. We all need that vitamin.
Matt:
Yeah, absolutely. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. So, you know, just food for thought. Hang in there. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>, don’t let that shitty season get the best of you. Yeah, for sure. Sure. Kick, kick, kick right back. Right when you’re getting your ass kicked. All you can do is kick back
Dee Dee:
And just think about it. 12 more episodes. <laugh> to be
Matt:
In spring, 12 episodes away,
Dee Dee:
12 episodes away
Matt:
From Sunshine and kick out.
Dee Dee:
Fuck my inmy. 12 or six. How many freaking year? How many weeks are in the year?
Matt:
52.
Dee Dee:
Yeah. So 12. Woohoo. Yeah, that was right.
Matt:
Well done. No, no. Thank you. All right. So let’s dive in today. Uh, uh, we’re gonna have a really fun and interesting episode.
Dee Dee:
Um, I don’t know what this one is even about.
Matt:
Yeah. I sometimes I like to surprise Dee Dee with a surprise. Yeah. Topic. It is what it is. Uh, this one’s pretty good actually. It is, uh, it’s the, the, the podcast’s actually entitled. I learned it from watching you mm-hmm. <affirmative>. And, and, um, it’s gonna be fun, but it is kind of important. It’s all about talking. I’m looking from watching you. Oh, no, no, no, no. Wait. Don’t get into it yet. Okay. We, uh, uh, recognize the importance and the growing importance of communicating with your, your children, communicating with your family. Now that cannabis, uh, hemp, c b d are all becoming mainstream, um, there’s much less of a stigma attached to it. Um, it’s as important or more important now to discuss it, uh, uh, cannabis usage and have been CBD usage mm-hmm. <affirmative> with your children as it’s ever been. And that’s gonna be different conversations at different ages and different households and different, you know, views.
Right. Even within the cannabis community. Um, so we just, uh, I I want to get into that a little bit, discuss that, but before we do, I do want to play and hopefully our, our, uh, producer can cue this because, uh, we are a no, um, we don’t receive payment for this no podcast. So that makes us, uh, that covers us under the Free Usage Act. Oh. That job we can share. Okay. Um, we can share little tidbits of, of un copyrighted things. Good. No. So, so for any Gen Xers, uh, out there, listen to this and tell me what it reminds you of
Afterschool Special Audio:
Yours. No, I’m your mother said she found it in your closet. I don’t know when. I guys must, must have what? Look at it’s not, where did you get it? Answer me. Who taught you how to do this stuff? You all right. I learned it by watching you parents who use drugs have children who use drugs.
Dee Dee:
Yeah.
Matt:
Buddy. So that doesn’t bring you back to the afterschool school. As
Dee Dee:
Soon as you
Matt:
Said it was special freaking
Dee Dee:
Commercial,
Matt:
It was, I don’t know what will Oh,
Dee Dee:
I learned it by watching you
Matt:
Dance. I love the, I love the hostility. That was, that was late eighties. War on Drugs was, was at its zenith. Yeah. Um, and I didn’t
Dee Dee:
Even know what all those were until we had Dare At School.
Matt:
It was all about how they, they, they adopted the, you know, the, the Christian ethos of how scared can we make you mm-hmm. <affirmative>. Yeah. Can we fear you into submission? Mm-hmm. <affirmative> and not, not to, that’s not a knock on any Christians, by the way. I’m, I’m thoroughly down with the, the Christian faith. It’s some of the church concepts that I have issues with. I understand. That’s another podcast. That is another podcast. Um, making you afraid, making you in fear. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. Uh, which was a horrible mistake in my opinion, in that era, especially
Dee Dee:
When it comes to the cannabis.
Matt:
Yeah. Yeah. So, uh, but just a kind of fun thing. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. Um, so now we are in a whole new era. Um, arguably the war on drugs is over, uh, PE people are, you know, the eye of Soran has now turned to Big pharma, which I love. Right. Um, in fact, um, it’s funny, I actually, it did had a drug. I went to, uh, I went to, um, get some cough medicine last week mm-hmm. <affirmative>, because, uh, I do live in the shit in Piss Villa of, of the world at this moment. Mm-hmm. <affirmative> and, um, the, uh, I, I’ve had a really bad lung infection, but I won’t get into that. So, uh, they gave me that, um, what’s that? The cough medicine with the, the codeine. Codeine, yeah. Yes. And let me tell you something, they were not playing with that codeine. They were like, it was a teeny ass little bottle <laugh>. And it was like, you get like a teaspoon mm-hmm. A day and there is no refills, and we need to see three forms of id. Mm-hmm. And you need to sign here and
Dee Dee:
Blood.
Matt:
And I thought, you know what, uh, good for them. Mm-hmm. You know? Um, and, and actually, and I’m gonna, I’m gonna be straight up. It worked wonderfully. Um, well,
Dee Dee:
When I had my surgery, when I had my appendix taken out, they sent me home. I won’t do Percocets. Like, I do not like the way I feel after them. And I see weird shit. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>, I don’t like that. Um, so they sent me home, home with some hydrocodine. I mean, it was, it helped. I only did it the one day day, the very first day outta surgery. After that I was like, eh, I’m good. I’m getting back on my Delta 8 and my Yeah. Delta 9 and my CBD products. And I had a, I had a pretty damn quick recovery. Yeah. I was back to work a couple days later. I mean, I couldn’t button my pants and I had stretchy pants on, but other than that, that was the most painful thing about the whole surgery. Yeah. That’s just the, where they punctured you. Yeah. So I think some of those, oh, that’s why big pharma fights us, man.
Matt:
Yeah.
Dee Dee:
That’s why big pharma
Matt:
Fights us Well, but, but at the same time, um, I have to admit that I did use the opioid and, and it did work. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. So I, I can’t, I can’t deny the results. I know. I mean, it was effective. Um, but I, it was very refreshing to me to see that they weren’t just handing it out and saying, don’t come in when you need a refill. Just call. Right. And we’ll give you one. And, you
Dee Dee:
Know, well, and all of that had
Matt:
To change. Here’s a mega bottle because
Dee Dee:
People were taking such advantage of it. Yeah. So, I mean Yeah. And then selling the Kool-Aid and you’ve got kids mixing that and mixing the hydrocodone and
Matt:
Cough medicine making Leann Yep, yep, yep. Sprite and
Dee Dee:
Whatever, whatever. Yeah. Yeah. Making it their own cough syrup. Yeah. So, yeah. I mean, there’s, and we’re stupid kids are dumb. Well, I’ve remember doing some stew stupid shit too when I was a kid, but Yeah. You know what I mean? Now there’s more, a lot more potent stuff. I mean, a kid gets ahold of some fentanyl and God, that’s horri horrible.
Matt:
Yeah.
Dee Dee:
So, yeah. You know, kids out there today have got way more crazy shit that they can get from the street than we technically could as a kid.
Matt:
Uh, it’s more accessible Yeah. With the internet and Yes. Uh, with, you know, virtual communication. Yep. Like, you know, getting ahold of your dealer when I was a kid was damn near fucking impossible <laugh>. And when you did get ahold of the jackass, he was so out of his mind half the time he wouldn’t show up. Right. If he did, he was three, eight to three hours late,
Dee Dee:
I think. I think ours was like, uh, um, like an older brother. I had an older brother that always was, had stuff, so, oh my God. And when I say stuff, I, I’m only talking about marijuana.
Matt:
I, I
Dee Dee:
Think that I never would try anything else. It was not a gateway drug for
Matt:
Me. There are countless rock songs about waiting on <laugh>. These, you know, now dealers are professional <laugh>. Yeah. They show up in a suitcase with a suit and tie. Right. And a big pharma. Yep.
Dee Dee:
Yep. You
Matt:
Know, persona. See I don’t technically work for big pharma, I just represent them on my side. Hustle <laugh>. Right. Um, but anyway. Oh my God. So there’s two. Yeah. Oh yeah. Yeah. We, we, we will have a, a soup pending from this one. <laugh>. I can tell. Um, okay. So there’s, there, there’s really two main,
Dee Dee:
This is our opinion only. Yeah. We are not,
Matt:
This is our opinion. Big pharma. Yeah. If you, if you, if you notice us as a little flea on your car case Right. Don’t scratch. Yeah, exactly. We think it’s just a gentle bite. Yeah. Uh, anyway, um, two, two kind of things I want to cover on this podcast. One, um, talking to your kids about cannabis, uh, marijuana and hemp, CBD and talking to your kids about your use of hemp cannabis and cbd. Cuz they’re really two different things. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. Um, one, I just, just start out just talking to your kids about hemp cannabis and cbd, regardless of your usage, I think is important for everyone. Uh, because you do not want to leave it up for god’s sakes. Don’t leave it up to the education system to, to tell your kids about this stuff because they will be fed misinformation. Yeah. Um, I don’t, I I don’t even want to get into it. Uh, is really your responsibility to educate your children, particularly on, uh, appropriate use of, um, recreational, you know, drugs and, um, supplements. Uh, which is technically what I think.
Dee Dee:
Well, I definitely think that, um, hemp and CBD
Matt:
Is, yeah. Treads is a line. It’s more a dietary supplement. Yeah.
Dee Dee:
And I mean, you can’t call it that, but I definitely think your body uses it like it would a dietary supplement. Yes. Like vitamin mm-hmm.
Matt:
<affirmative>. So I found, I actually found a website, uh, cannabis report.org, which was pretty good. And I’m not run across that site. There. I to check that out. Yeah. It, it, it’ll be in the show notes. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. Um, but they did a really good 10, you know, 10 factors for talking to your kids about marijuana. I’m not gonna recite it because there’s stuff I, I definitely don’t agree with mm-hmm. <affirmative> in the article. But I’m gonna hit the, the top 10 points and just talk on those. So number one is, uh, give your kids a bit of history about marijuana. Okay. Uh, which I think is, is is very interesting because don’t
Dee Dee:
Make it boring.
Matt:
Well, you, you don’t, but it’s like, whenever, whenever you, you know, you have like the story and the idea in your head, but then when you break it down to its history, like I find these things fascinating. Yeah, I do too. Uh, uh, the history of curse words mm-hmm. <affirmative> the history of swearing. Fascinating. If you ever just want to go off on a tangent and, and learn how insignificant cursing is, um Right. Versus the stigma that we put on shit. Fuck pissed.
Dee Dee:
Don’t, you don’t have to
Matt:
Say ’em all. I mean, I’d love to run through the whole gamut. I don’t have it in front of my head, in front of me <laugh>. Otherwise I would be happy to recite it.
Dee Dee:
<laugh> reminder, we need to put explicit <laugh> language
Matt:
In the notes. Yeah. So, uh, you know, and the, the, the history of, uh, I’ve been really into the history of religions lately mm-hmm. <affirmative> and like, where they actually spawn from. Absolutely fascinating. And so many people don’t know about it because they, they get so into studying the religion itself and the, the dogma mm-hmm. <affirmative> and the, the, you know, the communal principles and Right. All, all all. And the philosophy, the history is so often overlooked. Right. And then when you look at the history, you’re like, oh man, that’s crazy. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. So, uh, so I think that marijuana is much the same way. You know, it has this whole marijuana, right. Um, but then when you, you know, when you break it down and look at its uses, religious uses, communal uses, health uses, um, medicinal uses, recreational uses, what and how that has come through history mm-hmm. <affirmative>,
Um, as well as hemp and the, the, you know, the pliability and usability of the plant and the million and one different things that can be used for. Um, it’s really fascinating and it, and it really helps pull the veil off of what you’re really looking at and what you’re really dealing with. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. So, uh, I totally agree with that, and I think you can totally make that, um, an interesting conversation. Mm-hmm. <affirmative> number two is, uh, discuss the legality. You might be in an, you might be in a state where it’s illegal like Kentucky. Yep. Um, and your kids need to know, be aware of the laws mm-hmm. <affirmative> because man, um, they can still get in trouble. Yeah. You don’t wanna get in trouble. Mm-hmm. <affirmative> at an, at an early age. Um, it’s just not fun. No. And then it, it gets less and less fun.
Um, it it, you know, if there’s ever a time to turn yourself around, your youth is definitely the time, but Right. Um, you want your kids to know, um, that if they break the law, it’s, it, it’s a, it’s not a small deal. It’s a, it can be a big deal and it can be a big pain in the ass. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>, especially if you want to do things like get into the air force or go to a certain university that might do a background check. Um, things like that. Yeah. You, you want your kids to know, uh, the, the, the legal legalities and the ramifications, um, uh, in your state and in your area. Uh, number four would be talk to your kids about CBD, um, and that it cb the difference between CBD and, and marijuana ntc. Yeah, for sure. Um, a lot of people, even today, even though CBD has, and hemp has been legal since arguably 2014 mm-hmm. <affirmative> fully illegal since 2018. No question. There’s still a huge amount of confusion that CBD will get you high. And CBD is, is the same as marijuana. And, uh, well we have people, older people come into our shop mm-hmm. <affirmative> thinking,
Dee Dee:
Well,
Matt:
Did I tell you this story? We wearing sunglasses with cash saying they want some CBD <laugh>. Yeah. Um,
Dee Dee:
Did I tell you the story about my niece? My, she’s in her thirties, but she has a son and she gives our full spectrum gummies to him. Mm-hmm. <affirmative> because he has a dd and adhd. Well, he literally, um, was in school and said his teacher made something about him being rambunctious or whatever, and he’s like, oh, I need to take more of my CBD gummy and the, or I need to take more of my weed gummy, he called it a weed gummy. And his, the teacher texted my niece and said, Hey, you might wanna talk to your son. You know, I’m sure it’s a CBD gummy, but, and later someone actually called Child Protective Services on her and the CPS worker came out and she’s like, look, I lost a sister to heroin. I am not gonna give my son pharmaceutical drugs to help him with this.
These work, they’re legal. My aunt, you know, makes them, I get them from her. I know the source. And the CPS was like, I agree with you a hundred percent. Keep giving those to your son. Yeah. There’s nothing wrong with that. Absolutely. So that, and I was really worried for her though. I was a little scared about that. So it is legality. I mean, and that’s Ohio. They have medical marijuana available. Yeah. So, yeah. But for her, and I’m telling you, my great nephew, he’s, he’s something else. So for him to call it weed gummies, of course I just chuckled cuz you know, he’s just being a smart ass kid. He knows the difference, but Yeah. You
Matt:
Know? Yeah. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. Yeah. Um, good kid. Absolutely
Dee Dee:
Smart too.
Matt:
Absolutely. So smart. Um, another, uh, uh, next on the list, number five would, falling in those lines would be avoid using the word drug when referring to marijuana. Correct? Um, yes. You know, because a lot of people, it’s, it’s still, uh, and to me, marijuana being thc mm-hmm. <affirmative>, most specifically Delta 9 THC is undefined in that it’s technically not a drug. Right. Um, it does not fall into the, uh, into the uh, uh, FDA’s just definition of a drug
Dee Dee:
<laugh>. And yet it’s a
Matt:
Schedule one. They, they don’t Yeah. Yet. Yeah. Okay. You can, I know, you know, swirl that one around your head. I know. Yeah. And then knock yourself on the head with a tack hammer. Thanks Nixon. Um, then, then you have, um, you know, you’re not allowed to classify it as a supplement cuz it’s not an approved supplement. Correct. So, so marijuana, it’s a is a gray area. It’s plant. Well, there’s a lot, but yeah, there’s a lot of plants that’ll fuck
Dee Dee:
You up. I know that’s true.
Matt:
Yeah. Deadly nice. Shade is a plant.
Dee Dee:
That’s true. <laugh>
Matt:
Morning lorries are a plant. Don’t go put it in in your tea. I
Dee Dee:
Mean,
Matt:
Poppy seeds, ollie pop, ill eat the shit out some poppy seed. Poppy
Dee Dee:
Seed. Yeah. But the shit that comes. Yeah, I know. Yeah.
Matt:
So, um, I don’t, I don’t know that the plant argument’s gonna stand up. Probably not. But, um, I mean C cram is a plant.
Dee Dee:
Hmm.
Matt:
Sure. Uh, okay. Uh, next on the list, uh, discuss THC gummies will get you high. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. Um, and this is interesting to me because I like the fact that the community is moving more towards edibles and less towards smoking mm-hmm. <affirmative>, um, because it’s a much healthier, healthier al alternative for your body. It’s also a better way to absorb thc, in my opinion. Um, and it’s going to create health benefits instead of pull away from your health. Um, there is a recycle factor which needs to be considered now. Yeah. Um, because these jars that the edibles are, are, are being shipped in, um, is, you know, creating extra carbon. Um, and, and, and it’s something that, that definitely needs to be discussed, but, uh, to circle back, there’s a lot more THC gummies in the household Oh, gotcha. To death. You gotta
Dee Dee:
Keep those away from your animals
Matt:
Too, the past. And it, it’s really important that kids not get ahold of, of those, even though there’s been no documented cases and no one has br brought one to me yet of an overdose resulting in death from thc. Um, someone who ingests too much of it, particularly a child’s gonna have a really bad time.
Dee Dee:
Apparently there was one out in West Virginia,
Matt:
But that, but that was not, that’s not, wasn’t proven. No, that’s not proven. That that was just a, that was, that was just a martyred, like let’s, let’s, let’s try to make a martyr case here. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>, I, there was another one that I read a month ago stating the same claims and, uh, when you, when you got down to the nitty gritty of it, uh, the, the person was in a terrible health mm-hmm. Had terrible health conditions and opted to kill themselves. Ah. Um, and, and they, but they chose to blame that on marijuana. Oh, of course. Or, or an overdose of thc mm-hmm. <affirmative>. Yeah. So I’m calling bullshit and so someone can show me empirical evidence that shows it was an overdose resulting from marijuana. Yeah. As far as I’m concerned, does not exist. I agree. And there’s no scientific proof that I’ve been presented with to show me that it exists. No, I agree. I’m more than happy to change my opinion. I go, I I work off of empirical evidence, not mm-hmm. <affirmative> the fucking tabloids or mass media. You’re right. Right. Or some article published by a subsidiary of Big Pharma <laugh>. I’m just not gonna do it.
Dee Dee:
I
Matt:
I’m just not gonna do it. Okay. Uh, so moving on, uh, explain to your children, uh, what prescription marijuana is and what, and that it’s okay for prescribed marijuana for children, which is kind of an interesting topic because obviously if for a child to be prescribed marijuana for, for a child to take marijuana, they’re, they have to be quite ill. Yeah. I mean, it’s not something typically seizures. Yeah. That’s a big one. Pretty, pretty major illness because mm-hmm. <affirmative> cancer, I, I, I personally believe that there is evidence that that shows that, um, chronic THC use in an undeveloped brain, um, can have, uh, effects that mm-hmm. <affirmative> that could or could not, it’s not determined yet whether they could be long term, whether they’re reversible, but there’s really no question that if you give your body a synthetic hormone, well, uh, it, it, it’s going to result in, you know, your body essentially having to relearn how to produce that hormone. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>, I think that if you introduce a s synthetic cannabinoid that reacts directly with your body there and, and your body hasn’t developed the ability to make that cannabinoid, well, there could be some long term, go back
Dee Dee:
A little bit with that because we ha we’ve touched on in other podcast, but we create our own cannabinoids in our brain.
Matt:
Yes. Those are called endo cannabinoids.
Dee Dee:
Yes. And we’re not talking about THC or marijuana being synthetic, but
Matt:
No, no, no, no. Yeah.
Dee Dee:
I wanted to make
Matt:
Sure you clarified that THC naturally occurring THC is a synthetic of a naturally occurring endo cannabinoid. And what that means is that when it gets in your body, your body thinks it’s an endo cannabinoid. When it’s not. It’s actually, it’s it’s act actually just a external cannabinoid that you’ve introduced to your body. Your body doesn’t know the difference. Correct. And, and it absorbs it as such. Correct. And, and responds to it as such, steroids are a perfect example. You get people that decide they’re gonna, you know, get on a nice test cycle. They really get into it. They’re loving the test. I personally know several of these people, um, they get older, they get out of the game, body building, athletics, whatever they’re doing, want to have kids wanna settle down and they’re having all kind of problems producing what ha getting their body to produce enough tests naturally mm-hmm. <affirmative>, um, to, you know, produce sperm to, to, uh, be healthy. And then they end up having to supplement, test, um, right. Uh, pharmaceutically, uh, just to, you know, continue on the natural path. So some
Dee Dee:
Things can be a vicious cycle.
Matt:
Yeah. So the point is, um, you do you want to have that conversation with your kids.
